New to camp this summer is the Children's Theatre Workshop. Children of all ages love to pretend and enter worlds of the imagination. Our camp will provide your child with a creative and fun journey into the multi-sensory world of live theatre. Campers will participate in a variety of dramatics, improvisations and theater exercises similar to those done in a professional troupe. Miss Jamian, children's theatre teacher as well as music and singing teacher will be with us to foster life skills through stage skills. Self confidence will soar for our campers this summer!
Our Nature Study Program will offer an amazing natural outdoor classroom. Giving the young campers the opportunity to interact with the wild, natural areas that allow for free exploration and experimentation. Children's ability to "be messy" is limited to designated outside play areas. An example of an outdoor classroom activity will be water exploration. Campers get the opportunity to experiment investigate and observe water's properties in a safe, open-ended environment. Water will always remain an intriguing sensory experience and a favorite area of outdoor play at the Marlboro Montessori Summer Camp.
Special days for..." BRNG YOUR BIKE TO CAMP” should be a tremendous success for elementary age campers over 8 years old. Bordering Henry Hudson Trail allows access to the trail and opens up the opportunity for a child’s favorite activity… freely riding bikes with no cars in site. Properly supervised for short journeys in near proximity to the camp will for sure be a highlight for this year’s camp experience.
The Kids Learning Café will provide special time to have all senses come alive in our kid's kitchen. This kids cooking program was originally designed by Chef James Avery, sous chef for Gordon Ramsey's boy team on "Hells Kitchen." As an alumni of Marlboro Montessori Academy, Chef James returned to the academy to share his flare for fun and nutritious cooking for kids. From scratch cookies to Stir Fry will be such enormous fun as the campers experience real kitchen/cooking experiences. A "pizza garden" will be planted and cared for by our campers. Growing herbs and composting will be a “Hands on…Hands Dirty” experience that all young and spirited campers will find as an enjoyable and memorable experience.
A special section on the East side of the campus will be reserved for bird observation. A natural habitat accentuated by bird houses and feeders will be a special place to focus on art, jewelry making, wood working, gardening, ….and LAUGHING!
